BMW F30 F10 N20 Engine Starter Motor 12417610350 / 428000-7210 - Original Used Parts

Diagnosis and Common Symptoms

The N20 engine relies on a high-torque 1.2kW starter motor to initiate the combustion cycle. Over time, internal carbon brush wear or solenoid contact degradation leads to several failure modes. Common symptoms include a distinct single "click" when pressing the Start/Stop button without the engine turning over, or a sluggish "slow crank" that mimics a weak battery. In many cases, the starter may fail intermittently due to heat soak after the vehicle has been driven. Technicians often find fault codes such as A0B4 (Engine start, starter operation) stored in the CAS (Car Access System) or FEM (Front Electronic Module) when this unit begins to fail.

Introduction

When your BMW fails to crank, replacing the unit with a Genuine component is the only way to ensure the electrical draw remains within factory specifications. We provide Genuine used starter motors that have been salvaged from low-mileage N20-equipped vehicles and subjected to rigorous bench testing. Each unit is verified for solenoid engagement and motor RPM to guarantee it delivers the necessary torque for your F30 or F10. By choosing a tested Genuine part, you avoid the fitment issues and premature internal failures common with low-quality aftermarket alternatives.
