What is the difference between an aircond compressor and an airmatic compressor on a Mercedes-Benz?
The aircond compressor is part of the air-conditioning system and is responsible for cooling the cabin. The airmatic compressor (also called the air suspension pump) is part of the suspension system and maintains ride height by pumping air into the suspension bags. They are two separate parts and serve completely different functions.
How do I know if my Mercedes airmatic compressor has failed?
Common signs include the car sagging on one or more corners, the suspension warning light appearing on the dashboard, or the car taking noticeably longer to rise when you start it. A compressor that runs constantly without achieving the correct ride height is also a sign of failure.
